Nahla's Tailoring and Sewing Training is accredited
For over 15 years, CEI Nahla has offered creative sewing and tailoring programs. From 2008 to 2023, more than 5,700 women in Sarajevo Canton have participated, showing its strong community value. In January 2023, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Education officially accredited Nahla’s informal adult education program in sewing and tailoring. This accreditation gives participants better job opportunities.
This creative and artistic program brings together participants of different ages, backgrounds, education, and social status, united by a common interest. It plays an important role in strengthening community bonds. Such a diverse group also helps boost confidence, increase community involvement, create new job opportunities, and encourage further learning. Often, the work produced in Nahla’s creative workshops becomes a source of pride and empowerment not only for the participants but also for their communities.
Active involvement of participants in designing, delivering, and evaluating the program has allowed continuous improvement and better adaptation of the content over the years.
Nahla, in cooperation with Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality and within the project “Local Partnership for Activating and Integrating the Unemployed into the Labor Market,” funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO), will soon enroll the first group under the accredited curriculum. This group consists of unemployed women who will gain new skills and knowledge through 120 hours of training, followed by career counseling and job placement support. The program is free for the 12 enrolled participants.
