Another Nahla training is accredited – Catering Professional Training

As part of Nahla’s 25th anniversary, a new adult education program has been officially accredited: the Specialized Catering Training. In January 2025, the Ministry of Education approved this program, which goes beyond just teaching catering skills. Participants will also learn about marketing and how to present their services, event organization, basic business planning, and the legal side of starting and running a small business. This well-rounded program equips learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to start their own catering business or find employment in the field.

This training program is designed to help participants gain practical skills needed to work in catering. It’s part of Nahla’s ongoing efforts to reduce unemployment among women by offering training in fields that are in high demand. The program is ideal for anyone who wants to enter the catering industry or improve their existing skills. Through lectures, workshops, hands-on practice, and active participation, participants will gain the knowledge and confidence needed to work in this area—or even start their own business.

Statistics show that this program is not only relevant but also much needed. According to the Adult Education Plan for Sarajevo Canton (2024–2026), one of the most in-demand professions is that of a cook. This highlights the importance of training in catering—especially specialized catering—since there are very few people with this specific expertise and practical experience.

After successfully completing the training, participants are expected to have a solid understanding of hospitality and cooking basics, the principles of nutrition and healthy eating, and food safety and hygiene. They will also learn about different types of catering services and products that are in demand, how to plan and organize catering events, how to present and market their services, and how to communicate professionally with clients. In addition, the program covers legal regulations for service-based businesses and how to create a basic business plan. Graduates will be equipped to start their own catering business in a professional, competitive, and creative way.

This specialized catering training provides participants with the knowledge and skills needed for further education or professional development in related fields. It also opens up opportunities to work in event planning companies, restaurants, and other service-oriented businesses. Most importantly, it gives women the tools and confidence to pursue self-employment and launch their own business, fully informed about the legal and practical steps required.

CEI Nahla currently offers eight other accredited training programs: Graphic Design, Office Administration, Data Science, UI/UX Design, Manual and Automated Software Testing, Accounting Assistant, Community Management, and Sewing and Tailoring.

After completing any of these programs, participants also have the opportunity to receive career counseling at Nahla. This helps them prepare for the job market, strengthen their professional skills, and increase their readiness for employment. All of these efforts are aimed at empowering women and improving their position in society in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
